Visitation: 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Free Lutheran Church, Wheatland. Lahey Funeral and Cremation Service, Lost Nation, is in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. David A. Nelson officiating.

WHEATLAND — Ruth L. Schultz, 94, of Wheatland and formerly of Lost Nation, died Saturday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Burial will be in Lost Nation Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Ogden to Verne Lester and Josie Weinhart Sheppard. She married Howard Schultz on Oct. 8, 1938, in Ankeny.

She graduated from East High School, Des Moines. She attended Simpson College, Indianola; attended one year of correspondence and extension classes from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; and one year at Marycrest College, Davenport, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1969.

She taught first grade at Elwood from 1935 to 1938 and Lost Nation from 1956 to 1980.

She was a member of the Iowa Teachers Association, a 50-year member of the Alpheus Study Club and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Linn (Leslie) Schultz of Lost Nation and and Wayne (Suzanne) Schultz of Parker, Colo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Manley of Cookeville, Tenn., and Helen Harvey of Indianola.
