Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Pete Hagglund will be officiating.

DEWITT — Darold L. Truelsen, 59, of DeWitt, died Sunday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The DeWitt American Legion will conduct military rites.

Pallbearers will be Loren, Lance and Lonny Truelsen, Jay Sommers, Luke Fletcher, Jake Farrell, Russell Paulsen and Rick Paget.

He was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Clinton to Leonard and Louise Schroeder Truelsen. He married Jean Hopp on May 22, 1971.

He was a 1965 graduate of DeWitt High School.

He attended Greer College, Chicago, and Black Hawk in the apprentice millwright program.

He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as a flight mechanic.

He was a certified millwright and worked with J.I. Case, Bettendorf, for 22 years. In 1992, he started his own trucking company, Truelsen Trucking. In 2001, his son, Leon, joined him and formed Truelsen and Son Trucking.

He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt, and Eugene McManus American Legion Post 238, DeWitt.

Survivors include his wife; children, Leslie (Mark) Howard, Lori Hughes and Leon (Ashley Marx) Truelsen of DeWitt; his mother, Louise Truelsen of DeWitt; three grandchildren; one brother, Gaylon (Carol) Truelsen of Camanche; two sisters, LaVonne (Dale) Zahn of Holland, Mich., and Ardith (Edward) Wagemester of Clinton; and nieces and nephews.
