DUBUQUE — Donald J. Kraus, 74, of Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, and formerly of Clinton, died Thursday.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
He was born May 29, 1932, in Dubuque to Frank and Hilda Fiedler Kraus.
He served more than 30 years in government service including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Reserves and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers serving for many years as a lock and dam operator in Dubuque and Clinton before retiring in 1992.
During his retirement, he operated Kraus Trucking.
He volunteered to help the needy.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 1584 White St., Dubuque, IA 52001, or Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor, Dubuque, IA 52001.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
