PINEHURST, N.C. — Wayne Leslie Steensen, 70, of Pinehurst, died Oct. 4 at his home.
He was born July 15, 1936, in Clinton to Broder and Adeline Steensen.
He was a food chemist with General Foods and Nabisco. After retirement, he moved to Pinehurst in 1997. He also was an athletic coach for various youth teams.
He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines, N.C.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Craig (Andrea) Steensen of Morganville, N.J., Joel (Jill) Steensen if Raleigh, N.C., and Brian (Karen) Steensen of Newark, Delaware; one brother, Eugene (Jean) Steensen of Clinton; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1517 Lutheran Way, Southern Pines, NC 28387, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
