Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schultz Funeral Home.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. The Rev. Sarah Kretzmann will be officiating.
DEWITT — Marvin L. Wessels, 76, of DeWitt, died Saturday at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite.
Pallbearers are Mark Witte, Yale Christiansen, Gary Braet, Hal Shelton, Greg Barnes, Mike Barnes, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Sterling, Ill., to Theodore and Stella Andrews Wessels. He married Lois Traver Oldsen on Oct. 8, 1988, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Quartermaster Corps from 1948 to 1952.
He worked with JI Case for 23 years and Barnes Foodland, DeWitt, for 10 years.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a past member and officer with the Jaycees, Sterling.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cynthia Fields of Baltimore; two stepsons, Tim (Grace) Oldsen of Calamus and Mike (Denise) Oldsen of DeWitt; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Marge Sommers of Rock Falls, Ill.; and one brother, Robert Wessels of Abilene, Texas.
