MARSHALLTOWN — Verl Edward Shetler, 94, of Marshalltown and formerly of Clinton, died Saturday at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
He was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Clinton to Sylvanus and Bessie Dornes Shetler.
He graduated from Lyons High School.
He served in the U.S. Army Corps with the 861st Bombardment Squadron in England during World War II.
He worked for the Veterans Administration until retirement in 1967.
Survivors include one sister, Vera Dingmon of Clinton; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one daughter.
