Ray W. McChane

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

CAMANCHE — Ray W. McChane, 85, of Camanche, died Saturday at his home.

Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of the Camanche VFW.

He was born March 25, 1921, in Luck, Wis., to William and Florence Wagner McChane. He married Mary Lampe on Nov. 8, 1947, in Clinton.

He graduated from Frederick (Wis.) High School in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Army as a radar technician during World War II. He was awarded six bronze stars for campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rome and Central Europe.

He retired in 1983 after 18 years in the refinery department at Clinton Corn Processing/Archer Daniels Midland.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Billie (William) Crigger of Fulton, Ill.; two sons, Randall (Katherine) McChane of Garland, Texas, and Mark (Teresa) McChane of Davenport; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one brother.

Death date: Sept. 30, 2006
