Rheannon Lee Hill

Rheannon Lee Hill died Aug. 15th, peacefully in her sleep in Corvallis, Oregon. Rheannon was 22 years old. She was the daughter of Julie and Tim Hill of Kodiak, Alaska. She had just graduated from Oregon State University in June with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Oceanography. She was preparing to start Graduate School at OSU in the fall to continue her studies in Marine Resource Management.

Rheannon was born in Kodiak, Alaska and grew up enjoying all that Kodiak has to offer. She attended East Elementary, Kodiak Middle School and graduated from Kodiak High School. During her school career, Rheannon was very active and joined many clubs. She was president of the Student Council her junior and senior years and editor of the Yearbook her senior year. She was outgoing, enthusiastic and worked hard to make school a great experience for herself and other students.

At OSU, Rheannon found a new home. She loved it from the moment she set foot on the campus. Rheannon took advantage of every opportunity she was given to try new things, make new friends and to grow in so many dimensions. She blossomed into a determined, self confident, intelligent young woman. Rheannon’s infectious smile drew people to her. She had a joy that shone out from her and attracted others.

When Rheannon was three years old, her father died. The family responded to that tragedy by becoming closer and more centered on each other. Rheannon loved her brother, sister and mother and showed that love in a hundred different ways.

Rheannon is survived by her mother, Julie, sister, Tegan, and brother, Noah. She was loved dearly. She leaves behind many friends, both young and old, all over the world. She is remembered in love by her Grandmothers, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Her Clinton family is grandmother, Phyllis Cain; uncle, Mike Cain and son; uncle, David and Susie Cain and family; and aunt, Gail and Joe Hlubek and family. She also leaves her extended family of Kodiak and Corvalis. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life mass was held on Saturday, August 26, at 3:00pm, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The celebration continued with a repast at the Elks Lodge following the service.

Condolences may be sent to her family in care of Julie Cain Hill, 1014 Stellar Way, Kodiak, Alaska 99615. In lieu of flowers, contributions toward the balance of Rheannon’s college loans would be appreciated. An account has been set up in Rheannon’s name at AlaskaUSA, 2685 Mill Bay Road, Kodiak, Alaska 99615.
