Marie’s obituary from the Clinton Herald was published 23 November 1951:

Mrs. Marie Gathe

Mrs. Marie Gathe, 81, 700 Second Avenue, South, died about noon yesterday in Jane Lamb Hospital where she had been a patient one day. She had been ill more than two years.
The funeral will be at 3:30 Saturday in the Bragonier-Fay chapel where friends may call. Rev. F. E. Schoenbohm will be in charge of last rites. Burial is to be in Springdale Cemetery.
She was born April 15, 1870, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, to Mr. And Mrs. Juergen Bielfeldt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. She came to this country and to Clinton alone when a girl of about 15. In 1893 she was married to Julius Gathe.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. G. A. Brumer, Clinton; a granddaughter, Mrs. Delbert H. Dudley, Clinton, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Chris.
