Clare V. Chapin

MORRISON, Ill. — Clare V. Chapin, 91, of Morrison, died Saturday at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 19, 1915, in Morrison to Milo W. and Lydia L. Sawyer Chapin. He married Hazel “Lucille” Hubbard on Sept. 16, 1934, in Valparaiso, Ind.

He attended Morrison grade and high schools.

He owned and operated the Red and White Grocery Store, Morrison, for more than 50 years. He later was employed with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department in the control room, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and past president of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jere (Nancy) Chapin of Ripon, Wis., and Gil (Mary Ellen) Chapin of Oshkosh, Wis.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison.
