Marvin J. Brady

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

MAQUOKETA — Marvin J. Brady, 87, of Maquoketa, died Saturday at Briarwood Care Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

He was born May 8, 1919, in Jackson County to Henry and Lottie Brown Brady. He married Helen Ihrig on March 5, 1941, in Maquoketa.

He was educated in country schools near Emeline.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

He worked as a salesman with the Jewel Tea Co. for many years and then owned and operated a furniture store in Maquoketa, House of Brady. He managed hotels and motels for five years. He then owned and operated a Sears catalog, pack-n-ship store in Maquoketa for 11 years.

He was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Maquoketa, serving as its treasurer in his earlier years. He was a member of the Maquoketa Rotary Club and past member and president of the Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife; children, Darlene (Dave) Hayes of Maquoketa and Kaye Campbell of Maquoketa; one sister, Zana Fuller of Maquoketa; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A Marvin J. Brady Memorial Fund has been established.
