KLIPPLEAN, LIMBAUGH, PROOST, NISSEN, CHRISTIANSEN, PAULSON, CARSTENSEN

Charlotte, October 31- Theodore Klipplean, 86, one of the last Civil War veterans of this vicinity, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Christensen, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.
Mr. Klipplean had been ill for the past two weeks.
Funeral Services will be held in the Richard Christensen home at 1:30 and at the Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock, the Rev. A.H. Deletzke officiating. Burial will be in the Rossiter cemetery.
Mr. Klippean was born in Holstein, Germany, Sept. 7, 1847 and at the age of ten years came to America with his parents. They settled in New Orleans, and one year later moved to Davenport.
He resided there for two years and walked to Charlotte, where he has since made his home.
At the age of 15 he enlisted in the "Twenty-Sixth Iowa Infantry" for the Civil war, serving two years and eleven months. He fought in many battles.
In 1866 he married Margaret Limbaugh and to this union were born five children including: Mrs. John Proost, California; Mrs. Harry Nissen, Mrs. Richard Christensen, Charlotte; Mrs. Charles Paulsen and Andrew, deceased. He has one sister, Mrs. Lena Carstensen, Charlotte.
