Visitation: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kathy Remley, pastor of Cordova (Ill.) Baptist Church, will be officiating.

MORRISON, Ill. — Kenneth C. Aiken, 79, of Morrison, died Saturday at his home.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

He was born May 8, 1927, in Sterling, Ill., to Clarence and Pansy Birdsall Aiken. He married D. Josephine “Josie” Mann on Oct. 12, 1950, in Shawneetown, Ill. She died in 2004.

He was educated at Prairie Center Grade School, rural Whiteside County, and graduated from Morrison High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

He was employed wit J.A. Bull and Sons from 1945 to 1949. After the war, he worked with J.A. Bull and Sons again. He then was employed with Workman Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, Morrison, from 1951 to 1980. From 1980 to 1989, he worked in maintenance with the Whiteside County Jail and Courthouse. Most recently, he transferred cars for Chuck Lindsay Chevrolet, Morrison.

He was a 35-year member of the Morrison Fire Department, serving as fire chief for nine years. He was past president of the Blackhawk Fire Fighters Association. He was a member and benefactor of the National Rifle Association. He served one term as alderman with the Morrison City Council. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows since 1945; Morrison American Legion Post 328 and Morrison Sportsman’s Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Aiken of Morrison and Elaine (Michael) Seevers of Cordova, Ill.; one son, Gary (Shelley) Aiken of New Caney, Texas; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Pierce of Morrison.
