HELENA IPSEN, 80, of 925 DeForest St., died at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, following an extended illness.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Church with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Cosgrove.
Friends may call Sunday at Lensing Funeral Service from 2 to 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 2:30 p.m. and Parish Vigil Service at 4 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. Ipsen was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Cosgrove, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Cooney Costolo. She was a 1937 graduate of Cosgrove High School then attended the
Business College in Iowa City. She married Paul Ipsen on April 24, 1944, in Iowa City. She and her husband owned Mr. Power Clean until their retirement.
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and had also belonged to the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include seven daughters, Rosie Dalton and her husband, Pat, of Iowa City, Cathie Moore and her husband, Pat, of Iowa City, Donna Henn and her husband, David, of Iowa City, Pauline Cole and her husband, Lyle, of Iowa City, Tina Tubbs and her husband, Dan, of Iowa City, Patty Lee and her husband, Scott, of Davenport, and Rita Baglien and her husband, Don, of Portland, Ore. two sons, Richard and his wife, Carol, of Portland and Andy and his wife, Jennifer, of Dayton, Ohio 16 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Her husband; a son, Tom; one granddaughter, Natalie; one brother, William Costolo; and two sisters, Lucille Costolo and Sister Marita Costolo died earlier.
