Doris Marie Ipsen, 73, of 1210 S. First Ave., died at her home Tuesday, April 2, 1996, after a brief illness.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Rev. Brian Shepley will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Donohue-Lensing funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Regina Foundation or Iowa City Hospice, Inc.
Mrs. Ipsen was born May 30, 1922, in Parnell, to Francis F. and Bridgie (Balton) Driscoll. She married Edward Ipsen Oct 2, 1945, in Lone Tree. She worked as a secretary in the Iowa City Community School District until retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America Court Craigie 93 and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 878. She served on the Council of Elders at the Johnson County Senior Center for two years.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters.,Theresa Wirtz and her husband Joseph of Epsom, N.H., Bernadine Tompkins and her husband Jerald of Troutman, N.C., Joan Parrish of Aberdeen, MD.; and Jean Critchlow and Laureen Ipsen, both of Iowa City; two brothers and their wives, Bernard and Emme Driscoll of Huntsville, Texas, and Clarence and Marcia Driscoll of Madison, Wisc; a sister, Elizabeth Truby of Anchorage, Alaska.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents, a son, Michael, and a sister, Mary , died earlier.
