The Clinton Herald Tuesday September 21, 1948 p. 8 August A. Eggers, 636 Ninth avenue, South, died early today in Jane Lamb hospital where he had been a patient for about three weeks. He was 63 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Shadduck funeral home. The Rev. F.E. Schoenbohm will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Eggers was born Aug. 22, 1885, in Clinton county and spent his entire life in this community. He married Agnes Peters Jan. 11, 1917. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, Woodmen of the World and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He had been employed by the Chicago and North Western railroad. Mr. Eggers is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. R.J West, Clinton; one son, Leon, Iowa City; two brothers, Jerry and Emil, both of Clinton; two sisters, Emma E., Clinton, and Mrs. Ernest (Anna) Kunau, Sabula, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and two brothers.
