Horace T. Mason

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clinton, with President Pedro Becerra officiating.

FULTON, Ill. — Horace T. Mason, 94, of Fulton, died Saturday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery.

He was born March 9, 1912, in Long Grove to Benjamin Franklin and Emma Mae Stuth Mason. He married Dorothy A. Morrow on June 29, 1939, in Clinton. She died in 1997.

He was educated in Long Grove and Lyons grade schools.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.

He was employed with E.I. DuPont Co., Clinton, for 27 years before retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clinton branch, and the bishopric of the Clinton ward. He served as Sunday school president and also as the church’s custodian. He also was a member of American Legion Fulton Post 402, and was founder and first president of the Dupont Cellophane Employees Credit Union.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Ann (Virgil) Frey of Peoria, Ill., and Linda Mae Clarke of Fulton; two sons, Keith (Barbara) Mason of Springdale, Ark., and Danny (Gloria) Mason of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Louis Mason of Sun City, Ariz.

Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandchild, three sisters and two brothers.
