Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating.

MAQUOKETA — L. Earl Campbell, 77, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

He was born July 3, 1929, in Jackson County to Lester E. and Rita Sutton Campbell. He married Loretta Carlson on April 29, 1984. She died in 2001.

He attended Maquoketa schools.

He farmed near Fulton, Iowa, for many years before selling the farm in 1969. He then became a truck driver working with Kapron Trucking for 10 years and then as an independent trucker for 20 years before retiring in 1991.

Survivors include his children, Bill (Christy Appleby) Campbell of Oxford Junction, Alan Campbell of Cedar Rapids and John (Sherry) Campbell of Maquoketa; stepchildren, Shelly (John) Furlong of Davenport, Renee (Mark) Feldpausch of DeWitt and Trevor (Jenny) Ketelson of Bettendorf; eight grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Jackson County or the American Cancer Society.
