Yarda Josephine McGregor

MAQUOKETA — Yarda Josephine McGregor, 84, of Maquoketa, died Friday at Manor Care Health Services, Davenport.

Graveside services and burial will be in the Rock Island (Ill.) National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.

She was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Henry County, Ill., to August E. and Louise A. Gehrls Nyberg. She married Robert Lee Hasting. He died in 1948. She raised her children in Greenrock, Ill. She then married Jim Webber. She and her family then moved to Riverside, Calif., and later Sacramento, Calif. He preceded her in death. She then married Walter McGregor. She then moved back to Maquoketa.

She attended Perryton School.

During World War II, she worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist, operating a machine in making cannon barrels.

Survivors include her children, Roberta L. (Alan C.) McGregor of Delmar, Rodney K. Hasting of Maquoketa; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter (Phyllis) Nyberg of Sacramento; and one sister, Dorothy Horner of Toronto, Iowa.

Death date: June 30, 2006

Visitation: There will be no visitation. Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, is in charge of the arrangements.
