SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

ERIE, Ill. — Richard J. “Dick” Brown, 71, of Erie and formerly of Prophetstown, Ill., died Thursday at home.

He was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Dallas City, Ill. to James and Anna Licko Brown. He married Zeta Paxton on Nov. 10, 1957, in Erie.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.

He was employed by Commercial Towel, Port Byron, Ill., for 25 years, retiring in 1998. After his retirement he was employed by Cliff Warkins as a truck driver.

He was a member of the Erie Baptist Church, the Hooppole American Legion and was active in ESDA, Prophetstown, for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Tanya (Fred) Davis of Dubuque; a son, Larry Brown of Morrison, Ill.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Vera (Duane) McGee of Geneseo, Ill.

A memorial fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Death Date: June 22, 2006.
