Thomas W. Yopst

Thomas W. Yopst, 73, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Monday, June 12, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 22, 1933, in Albany, Ill., the son of Clarence and Nora (Emmert) Yopst. He married Norene Dierks on March 27, 1955, in Clinton, Iowa.

Tom worked in sales all his life and was with the Fuller Brush Company for 41 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He coached Little League Baseball in DeKalb for 15 years, loved to golf, delivered Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed his family and spending countless hours with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Norene; his three children, Thomas Yopst of Streamwood, Ill., Terri (Phil) Edwards of St. Charles, Ill., and Todd (Barb) Yopst of Sycamore, Ill.; four grandchildren, Matthew and Bradley Edwards, and Christie and Vicki Yopst; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dorothy Hute and Bertha Stuer.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., with the Rev. Laura Crites of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd. Crematory.
