Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Assembly of God Church, Savanna, with Interim Pastor Gary Abney officiating.

SAVANNA, Ill. — Virgil M. Adrian, 92, of Savanna, died Sunday at his home.

Burial will be in Lost Mound Cemetery, rural Hanover, Ill.

He was born Dec. 30, 1913, in Cassville, Wis., to Matthew and Rose Kelly Adrian. He married Mary Castro-Rubio on Jan. 26, 1962.

He attended Groom Country School.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He saw action at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, Saipan, Marianas Islands and during the occupation of Japan. He received a Purple Heart.

He worked as a carman and wrecker cook with the Milwaukee Railroad for 35 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Virginia (Henry) Winter of Freeport, Ill., Tammie Sipes (Tim Guenzler) of Savanna, Stacey (Richard) Morris of Peotone, Ill., Susan (John) McCloy of DeWitt, Janice Tatar (Larry Rhea) of Freeport and Toni Kinnaman of Sterling, Ill.; four sons, Raul (Christina) Rubio of Rock Island, Ill., Martin (JoAnn) Rubio of Savanna, John (Kelli) Rubio of Davenport and James Adrian (Angie Manley) of Loves Park, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eileen Brinkman, Carol (Bob) Vogt and Lois (Julius) Wiest, all of Cassville, Wis., and Violet Nickel of Lancaster, Wis.; and one brother, Alan (Pat) Adrian of Tewksbury, Mass.
