William "Bill" J. Eberhart, 71, of Delmar died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar. Pallbearers are Brandon, Dustin, Bryce, Jamie, R.J., B.J., Ryan, Brent and Lee Eberhart and Chris Bowman. Honorary pallbearers are Bridget, Katrina, Holly, Sarah, Samantha, Scott and Anthony Eberhart and Jenny Johnson. All are grandchildren.
Visitation was 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bill Eberhart was born April 30, 1928, in Charlotte to Albert and Rosa Voss Eberhart. He married Vineda Kammerer June 7, 1947, in Clinton.
In earlier years he had been employed at Central Steel in Camanche and Clinton Engines. He was last employed as a machinist at Caterpillar in Mt. Joy 20 years, retiring in 1986.
He was of the Catholic faith. He had served as a scout leader in the Clinton and Charlotte areas and was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 215.
He enjoyed stock car racing, leisurely drives, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Donna Eberhart of Delmar and LuAnn Johnson of Maquoketa; sons, David of Maquoketa, Daniel of DeWitt, Daryl of Delmar and Robert of Desota, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Witt and Alice Butt of Charlotte, Rose O'Meara of Schaller, Helen Burken of Camanche and Janet Parker of Warsaw, Ind.; and brothers, Robert of Charlotte and Joseph of Delmar.
He was preceded in death by two brothers. A memorial fund has been established.
