Herman Witt, 78, 601 6th Ave. DeWitt, retired McCausland area farmer, died Tuesday in DeWitt Hospital after a week's illness.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in McGinnis Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Trost of Congregational United Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Herman, son of Henry and Magdalena Mohr Witt was born March 8, 1895 at Long Grove. He married Elna Seastrand June 2, 1920, in Clinton and the couple farmed until retiring to DeWitt four years ago.

Surviving are the widow; two sons, Harold and Roland, Clinton; a daughter, Marcella at home; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ferd of DeWitt; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Feddersen of Eldridge and Mrs. Robert (Tillie) Cousins of DeWitt.

Preceding him in death was three sisters and five brothers.
