Francis Woodrow Armstrong

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline, Ill., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. July 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 356 16th Ave., East Moline.

EAST MOLINE, Ill. — Francis Woodrow Armstrong, 93, of East Moline, died Sunday at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Ill.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

He was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Rock Island, Ill., to Francis and Gertrude Buntenbach Armstrong. He married Virginia Nicholas on Dec. 13, 1936, in Davenport.

He was employed as a machinist with Farmall, J.I. Case and the Rock Island Arsenal before retiring from Miehle Corp., Chicago, in 1976.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served extensively on the grounds committee at various churches he attended.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Charles (Betty) Armstrong of East Moline, David (Dorothy) Armstrong of Janesville, Wis., E. Dean (Linda) Armstrong of Mesa, Ariz., Ronald (Karen) Armstrong of Danforth, Ill., and Robert (Darlene) Armstrong of Dahinda, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
