Joseph L. Griswold, 69, of Clinton, died, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 9:30 am, Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, with Rev. Jennifer Henry, Rev. Wayne Weissenbuehler, and Bill Michaelsen officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Griswold, Tony Cooley, Randy Hensel, Matt Rhoades, Derek Thornton, Scott Gifford, Tim Nielsen, and Jason Hansen. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-8:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church and Saturday from 8:30 am to the service time. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Lyman Griswold was born on March 12, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Lyman and Elsie (Seeser) Griswold. He married Ivagene Outzen on December 8, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton.

He was a 1956 graduate of Clinton High School. He farmed his entire life and also was a machine operator at DuPont in Clinton for 37 years.

He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed following and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his wife: Ivagene of Clinton; three daughters: Brenda (Chuck) Thornton of Clinton; Barbara (James) Rhoades of Fulton, and Beth Griswold of Clinton; one son: Brent (Lana) Griswold of Clinton; one daughter-in-law: Janet Griswold of Clinton; 12 grandchildren: Kristi (Tony) Cooley, Kelly (Randy Hensel) Griswold, Mike (Amber Hein) Griswold, Steph (Tim) Nielsen, Sabrina (Scott) Gifford, Shauna (Jason) Hansen, Lindsey Thornton, Derek Thornton, Matthew Rhoades, Aubree Rhoades, Kelsee Griswold, and Karlee Griswold; five great-grandchildren: Drew Cooley, Cade Hansen, Kayla Nielsen, Carson Nielsen, and Eva Gifford; one brother-in-law: Kenneth Outzen of Jewell, Iowa, and one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Brian H. Griswold, and one sister: Jacquelyn Loehndorf.
