Dorothy Helen Snow

Dorothy Helen Snow, age 80, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, passed away, Monday, April 3, 2006 at Genesis West Hospital, Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savanna. Father Moises Apostol will be Celebrant. Dorothy will be buried next to her husband in Spring Lake Cemetery in Savanna. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the St. John’s Antl Hall in Savanna. Dorothy was born May 3, 1925, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Sopko) Novak in Michigan City, Indiana. On June 24, 1944 Dorothy married Marion R. Snow in San Francisco, California. Dorothy worked for most of her life and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a Computer Analyst in 1990. In recent years she had resided in Davenport, Iowa near her granddaughter, Susan Lambrecht, and her great-grandsons who helped with her care. She regularly attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport.

Dorothy loved and very much enjoyed her family; they were the greatest joy of her life. She stayed in close contact with her brothers and sisters, and members of her late husband’s family. Dorothy was an avid reader her entire life, loved gardening, quilting, and playing pinochle with her family.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her four daughters; Judith Marie Cayard of Savanna, Jeanne Marie (Verlin) Baker of Fulton, Illinois, Helen Louise (Paul) Kallemeyn of Thomson, Illinois and Susan Elaine (Jesse) Fosdick of Savanna; one son, Thomas Robert (Helen) Snow of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Joseph (Beverly) Novak of Michigan City, Indiana, Charles (Theresa) Novak of Michigan City, Indiana and James (Anita) Novak of Niles, Michigan; three sisters; Elsie (Phillip) Micelli of Roselle, Illinois, Nancy (Donald) Grimm of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Peggy (Robert) Manzuk of Rolling Prairie, Indiana and Carol Novak, the wife of the late David Novak of Laporte, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; her parents; one brother, David Novak, and one granddaughter, Amy Lawrence.
