Le Auwaerter

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

SAVANNA, Ill. — Harry Le Auwaerter, 80, of Savanna, died Saturday at Freeport (Ill.) Health Network Memorial Hospital.

Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Savanna.

He was born July 19, 1925, to Harry and Lauretta Harmon Auwaerter in Keokuk.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Savanna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2223.

He worked as an excavating contractor building golf courses, roads, housing subdivisions, ski slopes and ponds.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of West Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Robert (Carrie) Auwaerter of St. Charles, Ill., and Weston Hill-Auwaerter of Mount Carroll, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra (Terrence) True of San Antonio and Mrs. Sharon (Brian) Morrison of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Patricia (LaVerne) Schier of Florida; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
