SERVICES: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
CLINTON — John William McGovern, 65, of Clinton, died Sunday at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center, Iowa City.
He was born Jan. 1, 1941, in Clinton to John “Jack” T. and Dorothy J. Striley McGovern.
He was a 1959 graduate of Clinton High School.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a painter.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include one son, David Lee McGovern of Georgia; four daughters, Danielle and Kelly McGovern, both of Clinton, Dawn McGovern of Hawaii and Debra McGovern of Kailua, Hawaii; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Joyce Ann (Harry) Lewis of Glendale Heights, Ill.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
