Roland H. “Rollie” Wiese

Roland H. “Rollie” Wiese age 70 of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Mercy North Medical Center in Clinton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 10:30 AM at Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be held Monday 2-8 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Tuesday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by members of Clinton AMVETS. Casket Bearers will be Ryan Johnson, Paul and Craig Sparks, Tyler Larson, Shawn Paarmann, Kasey Kash and Brian Corkill. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Corkill, Richard “Tank” Scharff, Bob Dunn, Wayne Williams, Gerhardt “Windy” Grantz, Wade and Wes Wiese, and Bobby Reynolds.

Rollie was born on March 4, 1936 in Clinton, the son of William and DeEthel (Mathiesen) Wiese. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1954. He was a US Army Veteran serving from 1959-1961. Rollie married Connie Sparks on Jan. 10, 1981 in Grand Mound, IA. He farmed on the family farm for over 50 years, retiring in 2001. He continued raising livestock after he retired. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Farm Bureau, Cattleman’s Association, and the Charlotte AMVETS and American Legion. He enjoyed socializing with all his family and friends.

Rollie is survived by his wife, Connie; five daughters, Mrs. Rhonda (Steve) Corkill of Palmdale, CA, Mrs. Rose Ann (Tom) Paarmann of DeWitt, Mary Ann Bennett of DeWitt, Mrs. Robin (Dan) Ignatowitz and Kim Radetzki both of Minneapolis, MN; three sons, Michael (Sarah) Sparks of Camanche, Alan Sparks of Preston, and John (Sue) Sparks of Davenport; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Wiese of Charlotte, Carlton (Glenda) Wiese of Bettendorf, and Lynn (Laurie) Wiese of Albany, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Elaine in 1990, son, John in 2001, granddaughter, Amanda in 1985, and a son-in-law, Darrell in 2004.
