Ray E. Hankemeier

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

LAMOTTE — Ray E. Hankemeier, 64, of LaMotte, died Wednesday at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.

Burial will be in the Andrew Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Dubuque to Elmer E. and Sylvia E. Wiegert Hankemeier. He married Norine S. Wehage on July 16, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport.

He attended country school near LaMotte and graduated from Andrew High School in 1959.

He farmed near LaMotte. He also did custom chopping for 25 years. He raised Limousin cattle.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, LaMotte.

Survivors include his wife; children, Daryl (Susan) Hankemeier of Bellevue and Mrs. Jane (Andrew) Stroup of Dubuque; four grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Knief of Maquoketa and Mrs. Betty (David) Schroeder of Bellevue; two aunts, Mrs. Arlene (Wayne) Moeller and Mrs. Bernice (Arnold) Bartels; two uncles, Edwin (Madonna) Hankemeier and Bob (Velma) Hankemeier; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

A Ray E. Hankemeier Memorial Fund has been established.
