Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church, Goose Lake, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at the church.

GOOSE LAKE — Evelyn E. Witt, 78, of Goose Lake, died Sunday at Clover Ridge Place, Maquoketa.

Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Darwin, Larry, Phillip and Brent Rickertsen, Steve Eicksteadt, Tom Witt; and John Grimm, Dale Schoolman and Dale Kruse.

She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Charlotte to Herman and Christina Mohr Rickertsen. She married John Witt on March 9, 1947, in Charlotte.

She worked as a teller with Gateway State Bank in Goose Lake for more than 31 years before retiring in 2003.

She played the organ at Ascension Lutheran Church where she was a member for more than 33 years.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Jodene (Robert) Berggren of Maquoketa and Dorene McDonnell of Clinton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Rickertsen of Clinton; three sisters, Lucille Schoolman of Goose Lake, Mrs. Dorothy (Les) Grimm of Washington, Iowa, and Mrs. Arlene (Ray) Eicksteadt of Davenport; several nieces, nephews; and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and eight brothers.

Death date: March 19, 2006
