Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Morrison. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

MORRISON, Ill. — Larry J. Fransen, 63, of Morrison, died Friday at Genesis Medical Center, west campus, Davenport.

Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison.

He was born Aug. 5, 1942, in Sterling, Ill., to William J. and Helen Schol Fransen. He married Jane E. Brandt on Aug. 31, 1968, in Morrison.

He graduated from Galt Grade School, Sterling High School and attended Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn.

He was employed with General Electric, Morrison, for 35 years until retiring in 2000. He also was employed with United States Brass and Copper, Downers Grove, Ill.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, served as an ordained elder and second ward alderman with the Morrison City Council. He was a charter member and past president of the Morrison Kiwanis Club, served as president of the Morrison Junior Girls Softball League and founded the Morrison Girls Senior Softball League.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Julia Sotelo of Los Alamitos, Calif., Mrs. Janessa (Mark) Renkes of Fulton and Mrs. Laura (Jeff) Arthur of Plainfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Helen Fransen of Sterling; and one sister- and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Robert Kuba of Sterling.

Memorials may be made to the Morrison Girls Softball League and American Lung Association.

He was preceded in death by his father.
