Iota I. Behrens

Iota I. Behrens, 81, of Miles, died Tuesday at Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Presbyterian Church, Miles, with the Rev. Bill Warhover officiating. Burial will be at Teeds Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston.

She was born April 19, 1924, to George and Malinda Schroeder Johannsen in rural Teeds Grove. She married Vernon Leroy Behrens on Feb.. 14, 1945, in Clinton. He died in 1986.

She was a graduate of Miles High School and earned a teaching degree in Cedar Falls.

She taught in country schools and later worked at Climax Manufacturing in Clinton. She and her husband also operated a family farm near Miles.

She was a member of United Presbyterian Women. She also taught Bible and Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church, Miles.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Shirley) Behrens of Columbus Junction, Iowa and David (Sammy) Behrens of Clinton; two daughters, Leanne (Jerry) Moehr of Goose Lake and Elaine (Richard) Schultz of Dickeyville, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rodney (Lois) Johannsen of Tama; and one sister, Leola (Wilbert) Behrens of Sabula.

Memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church or Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
