David V. DeWulf

DEWITT — David V. DeWulf, 66, of DeWitt, died Friday at Great River Medical Center, Burlington.

Visitation will be at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. H. Robert Harness will be officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Thomas, Brian and Brandon DeWulf.

He was born March 26, 1939, in Davenport to Rudolph and Laura De Backer De Wulf. He married Judy Hiatt on Aug. 18, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island, Ill.

He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1958.

He worked with the Scott County Highway Department for six years and farmed in rural DeWitt for 17 years. He also worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and in later years drove trucks and a school bus.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his children, Michael (Mary) DeWulf of Stafford, Va., Thomas (Kimberly) DeWulf, Brenda Hilgendorf and Brian DeWulf, all of Cedar Rapids; the mother of his children, Judy DeWulf of DeWitt; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Donald (Shirley) DeWulf of Long Grove, Mrs. Rosalie (Ron) McDaniel of Bettendorf, Dexter (Marilyn) De Wulf of Wilton, Mrs. Marilyn (George) Kieffer of Rock Island, Ill., and JoAnn Cummings of Long Grove; one sister-in-law, Carol De Wulf of Lost Nation; and numerous nieces and nephews.
