Hilda S. Grossklaus

CLINTON — Hilda S. Grossklaus, 91, formerly of Muscatine, died Saturday at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. The Rev. Tom Palmer will be officiating. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Debra Traver, David and Dwight Griggs, Troy and Trevor Grossklaus, Dave D. Grossklaus and Drew Grossklaus.

She was born July 22, 1914, in Muscatine to Louis A. and Sophia M. Bohling Thieker. She married Walter A. Grossklaus on Sept. 30, 1934, in Muscatine. He died in 2003.

She was a member of Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church and was a Sunday school teacher and youth director. She also was a member of Muscatine General Hospital Auxiliary, YM Board, Christian Women’s Club and state president of United Society of Friends Women.

Memorials may be made to Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gary W. (Becky) Grossklaus of Arlington, Texas, and David P. (Deborah) Grossklaus of Muscatine; one daughter, Mrs. Esther J. (William) Griggs of Clinton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.
