James Craddock, who is at work for F. W. Schmidt, who is two miles west of town, severely gashed his right foot on Thursday afternoon. He was cutting firewood for Mr. Schmidt when the axe he was using glanced and struck his foot, making a gash about 2 and 1/2 inches long near the instep. He was brought to town and Dr. C. H. Searle dressed the wound finding it necessary to take five stitches. James will have to take life easy for a while.
