Dr. C. H. Searle was summoned to Griswold Island, just south of town, Thursday afternoon, to attend to a young man named Thomas Banks, who had severely cut his right foot with an axe. Banks was working in Barney Lampe’s crew of wood choppers, and while cutting a small stick of wood, the axe caught him of the inside of the right foot, laying it open to the bone and cutting a gash that reached from the bottom of the foot to a point above the instep. It was necessary to take ten stitches to bring the wound together again, and it will lay the young man up for some time. – Sabula Gazette.
