Wheatland Times, April 17, 1861

At the last term of Court, James Allison, the late Treasurer and Recorder of this county, was indicted for embezzlement of public money. Allison having gone to Pennsylvania, Sheriff Toll followed him with a requisition from Governor Kirkwood, took him into custody and returned to this county some ten days ago. He was allowed a few days to procure bail, but failing to do so was placed in the custody of the jailor last Friday. The deficit in his account is said to be something over $9,000.
