TREASON AT FORT ARMSTRONG
DAVENPORT, Feb. 11, 1861
Early yesterday morning a large party of secessionists, from Rock Island, County, made an attack on Fort Armstrong which for some years has been unoccupied by United States troops, and raised the palmetto flag and fired cannon in honor of the event. A few hours afterwards a company from this city marched to the Fort, when the secessionists retreated leaving their cannon and stores. The Fort is now in possession of the Davenport military companies and the American flag has been raised amidst the salvos of artillery.
