The Clinton Herald Wednesday May 16, 2001 p. 8A Robert T. Gassman of Clinton, will receive the Boy Scouts' Eagle Scout Award on Monday. A ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. Gassman has been a member of Troop 642 since 1996, serving as a patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, scribe and currently as troop historian. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, earned the Ad Altare Dei Catholic scounting award and took part in the troop's 75th anniversary trip to Yellowstone Park in 1996. Gassman is the son of David and Laura Gassman of Clinton; a sophmore at Clinton High School where he is active in the a cappella choir, drama, orchestra and tennis team; and a member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. The Eagle award is the highest honor offered by the Boy Scouts and is earned by only 2 percent of all scouts. Each candidate much earn 21 merit badges and complete a service project. Gassman installed flower bed and trail markers at the Soaring Eagle Nature Center in Clinton.
