The Clinton Herald Tuesday October 14, 1997 p. 7 Joe Ownes of 1603 N. Sixth St., is celebrating his 90th birthday. An open house and card shower will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Hall. Relatives and friends are invited. The event is being hosted by his children. He was born on a farm in the Clinton area to Leo and Susie Manning Owens. He married Leola Pelham, July 24, 1941. He is the father of three children: Doris Owens Lyon of Burlington; Rose Owens Rohr of Monticello; and Tom Owens of Clinton. He has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He had served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1944. He had been employed for many years with Collis Co., where he performed many jobs until retiring from a management position. After retirement, he was employed for a time with the Mount Alverno.
