The Clinton Herald Thursday February 20, 1890 p. 3 The marriage of Mr. Joseph W. Beez and Miss Mary Tighe, which occurred at the Presbyterian parsonage on the evening of the 17th, was conducted so quietly that the interested public has only just been informed of the event. Both parties are well known and highly respected in this city, where they have lived for years and where the groom is a member of the flourishing grocery firm of Furman & Beez. Their many friends extend hearty congratulations.

Clinton Morning News Thursday February 20, 1890 p. 4 There was a quiet yet happy wedding Monday evening in the parsonage of the Presbyterian church, which was so quiet the no reporter but the News detective seems to have heard of it, and he was kept in blissful ignorance that one of his old time friends was a benedict till Wednesday. The groom is none other than the popular Jos. Beez, of Furman & Beez, the enterprising and leading young grocerymen of Lyons, and the bride is Joe's best girl, Miss Mary Tigh, an estimable young lady, Rev. M.E. Todd officiating. No spread was made - Joe was always nonassuming, and instead of going to Rock Island, as reporters were led to say, they have quitely settled down to happiness in the city. For some years Joe worked with the "detective" in printing offices, and that is where one gains a knowledge of the inner life, Joe ever being found gentlemanly kind ans warm hearted. To him and his bride the warmest well wishes of the News is extended.
