Last Will & Testament of William King VincentVolunteer’s note: This whole will was very bad copy and there are parts that I could not read.
Monday Sept 26, 1859
Know all men by these present that I Wm. K. Vincent of the Township of Lyons in the County of Clinton & the State of Iowa being of sound mind & memory do this day considering the uncertainty of life make, declare & publish this my last will and testament in manner following to wit.
Firstly, I thankfully and trustingly give my immortal spirit into the care of my blessed Redeemer being fully persuaded that he is able to keep that I have committed to him against that day. I also desire that my body may rest in xxxxxx xxxx the Prairie Cemetery besides Mr. Wilkes’s child or in the Cemetery of Eden Township beside the body of Mr. Milton as it may be most convenient also that my funeral expenses & all just debts be paid from my Estate.
Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my wife Sarah D. Vincent all my estate real & personal to have and to hold it during her natural life and after death I give and bequeath my real estate & personal property to my children hereafter mentioned and to be divided and xx xx xxxxxxxx them & their heirs for ever.
Thirdly, I give and bequeath unto my Son Wm. King Vincent Jr. One third part of all my here xxxx property & Real Estate also xxxx xxxx xxxxx (might be xxxx silver spoons) one large & six small ones after the death of his mother to be enjoyed by him & his heirs for ever
Fourthly, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane the wife of John Wilkes, the one third part of the remaining two thirds of all my real estate & personal property after the natural death of my wife Sarah D. Vincent to be enjoyed by her and her heirs for ever.
Fifthly, I also give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Vincent one third part of the remaining two thirds of all my real estate and personal property after the natural death of my wife Sarah Dxxxx Vincent to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever.
Sixthly, and also to my daughter Charlotte the wife Robert Campbell I do give and bequeath one third part of the remaining two thirds of all my Real Estate & personal property after the death of my wife to be enjoyed by her and her heirs forever.
Seventhly, I do hereby appoint & conxxxxx my highly esteemed friend Benjamin Lake of Lyons County State aforesaid executor of this my last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 25th day of February AD 1857.
Signed, sealed, published & declared by William King Vincent, sent as and for his last will & testament in the presence and having of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Clinton County Be it remembered that on the 25th day of February AD 1857 before the undersigned Wm. W xxxxx a Notary Public in and for said county personally appeared William King Vincent to me personally known to be the identical person whose name is affixed to the within will & testament and acknowledges the instrument to be his voluntary act & deed for the uses & purposes therein stated.In witness my hand and official seal by me affixed on the day and year before mentioned.
