The last Will & Testament of Alexander Campbell
In the name of God Amen. I, Alexander Campbell of the Town of Cameron in the county of Stuben and State of New York of the age of sixty-seven years and being of sound mind and memory, do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say....
First, I give and devise to my daughter Matilda M. Campbell, all that piece of parcel of land situated XX in the County of Clinton, State of Iowa to wit the south west quarter of section eleven (11) in Township eighty three (83) North of Range five (5) east containing by government survey forty acres, for more full description see deed given to Alexander Campbell by John C. Culbertson & Mary Culbertson dated May 1st, 1856.
Second, I give and devise to my son George Campbell all sheet trust or parcel of land situate in the county of Clinton, State of Iowa, Town of Deep River bounded on the East by lands owned by B. T. Cook on the South by lands said Cook other on the North by land owned said Cook.
Also about ten acres of wood land laying in Jackson County, State of Iowa for a more full description of said lands see a duplicate given to one Alexander Campbell by the United States government and a deed given by Thomas A. Pope to me A/C.
I also give and bequeath all my real and personal estate of every name and nature to my son George Campbell.
Third, I give and bequeath to my son James Campbell four hundred dollars lawful money to be paid in yearly payments, one hundred dollars each from my Alexander Campbell’s death until paid to be paid out of the real estate above described to my son George Campbell by heirs.
In witness whereof, I have hereinto set my hand and seal this 20th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty six.

The above instrument consisting of half sheet of paper was at the date thereof signed sealed and published and declared by the said Alexander Campbell as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness thereto.

Be it remunerated that on this date hereof, the last Will and Testament of Alexander Campbell late of the county of Steuben deceased (being the forgoing witnesses was duly proved before David McMaster, Surrogate of said county according to law as for the last will & testament of the real and personal estate of the said deceased, which said last Will & Testament and the proof and examination taken thereon are recorded in the Surrogates office of said county in Book 7, of Wills, Testaments and Codicils at page 45 & in testimony whereof the Surrogate of said county hath hereunto set his hand and affixed the seal of the Surrogate’s court of the said county, this 1st day of March in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven.
