Last Will and Testament of Thomas Harvey
Record of Wills – 1855
At a Probate Court began and held at the office of the county judge in Dewitt Oct 1st, 1855, present Daniel McNeil, County Judge.
The following Will was admitted to Probate and ordered to be recorded which is in the words and figures following toxxx.
I, Thomas Harvey of Clinton County and State of Iowa, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, do make this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following toxxx.
First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Ruth Harvey all of my property both real or well or personal of which I may die possessed.
I also give and bequeath unto Charles Henry Harvey the sum of five dollars to be (?) given (sic) when he becomes of age.
I also give and bequeath to my two younger sons James S. Harvey and George E. Harvey the sum of twenty five dollars each as they sxxxxxally arrive to the age of twenty one years.
I also give and bequeath to my eldest daughter Elizabeth Swan the sum of twenty-five dollars to be paid in five years after my decease.
I also give and bequeath to my four younger daughters Isabella Harvey, Mary Ann Harvey, Julia Ann Harvey and Ida Harvey the sum of twenty-five dollars each to be paid as follows.
To Isabella Harvey and Mary Ann Harvey in six years after my decease and to Julia Ann Harvey and Ida Harvey as they become of age respectfully.
The sums above named to be paid by my said beloved wife, Ruth Harvey, whom I here by appoint sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking all other wills made by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five.
