Last Will and Testament of David D. Klise

In the name of God Amen;
I David D. Klise of Brookfield Township Clinton county and State of Iowa of the age of 49 years and being of sound mind do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following:

First – I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Klise all my real estate and personal property and for the said Mary Klise to pay all my debts during her nature life.

2nd – And at the expiration of the said Mary Klise death the said real estate and personal property shall be divided between my children as follows: Lewis C. Klise, Anne E. Klise, Rosanna Klise, Mary Magdalena Klise equal shares alike provided that the said Lewis C. Klise shall pay to the other named children the sum of Three Thousand dollars than to be share and share alike.

3rd – And in the case my wife Mary Klise would get married then in that case the said Mary Klise shall have but her Dower in my real and personal property.

4th – And in the case any of my children get married and leave no issue or children then in that case his or her share shall revert back to the other children and be divided share and share alike. And lastly I hereby appoint Mary Klise my wife and Lewis C. Klise my son Executors of this my last Will and Testament without bonds.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this the 11th day of Feb’y in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight (1888).

The above instrument consisting of two sheets was at the time and date thereof signed and declared by the said David D. Klise as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

I William Kreim, clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the Apri Term A. D. 1888 of said Court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date in the 11th day of February 1888 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of David D. Klise late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto at my hand and affixed the seal of the court at my office in Clinton in said County this 28th day of May A. D. 1888.
