Last Will and Testament of Hannah P. Irwin

I Hannah P. Irwin wife of J. G. Irwin of Clinton City in the County of Iowa being in good health and of sound mind and under no restraint do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

I do hereby give and bequeath to my dear husband J. G. Irwin all my property of which I may be possessed both real and personal after my decease also any property what may come into my possession hereafter.

I will and bequeath to my Niece Mary E. Ramsey wife of C. D. Ramsey my wardrobe. I will and bequeath to my Nephew James J. Peck my gold watch and chain.

I hereby constitute my husband James G. Irwin my executor of this my last will and testament.
It is my will that no inventory or appraisement of my property be made but that the same may pass into the immediate possession of my husband J. G. Irwin.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my written signature this twenty first day of August 1862 Eighteen hundred and sixty two in presence of Charles D. Ramsey and William F. Coan and Isaac Baldwin.

We Charles D. Ramsey and William F. Coan and Isaac Baldwin now living in Clinton, Clinton County, State of Iowa hereby declare that we saw Hannah P. Irwin write her name to the above instrument which she declared to us at the time shse affixed her name thereto to be her last will and testament and she particularly requested us to write our names hereto as the subscribing witnesses, she then requested each one of us separately so to do . In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Clinton Iowa Aug. 21 1862 in the presence of Hannah P. Irwin and in presence of each other.

On this 21st day of August 1862 before me a Notary Public in afor said Clinton County State of Iowa came Hannah P. Irwin to me personally known to be same individual described in the within instrument and will and she acknowledged to me that she executed the same freely and voluntarily and for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. In witness whereof I have hereunto attached my official Notarial Seal and my signature this date above written.

I William Kreim, clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the April Term A. D. 1888 of said Court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date in the 21st day of August 1862 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of Hannah P. Irwin late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto at my hand and affixed the seal of the court at my office in Clinton in said County this 18th day of April A. D. 1888.
