The Clinton Herald Saturday October 3, 1931 p. 6 In the Second Presbyterian church, Peoria, Ill., this afternoon, took place the wedding of Miss Florence Scully, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Chase Scully, of Peoria and George Martin Curtis, son of G.L. Curtis of Clinton. The church had been transformed for the occasion into an Italian garden, all green and white. Through garlands of smilax, the wedding party walked between clipped hedges of crisp green, extending on two levels the length and width of the rostrum, with paths and shallow steps leading from the aisles to the altar. Graceful pyramids of pure white chrysanthemums were the only flowers used in the indoor landscaping. Preceding the ceremony, at 3:30 o'clock, Mrs. John Bono gave an organ recital. To the notes of the Lohengrin wedding march, Mr. Curtis, accompanied by his best man, T. Chalmers Curtis of Petoskey, Mich., entered the chancel with the Rev. Robert Lee Logan and the Rev. John Creighton. The bridal procession, composed of nine of the bride's close friends, was let by Miss Eleanor Page of Chicago, the bride's cousin, and included the Misses Louis Curtis of Clinton, Virginia McClure, Marjorie Mackemer, Kathleen Danforth and Jeanne Block, all of Peoria, maids. Mrs. Carl B. Stone III of Coronado Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Albert Kinney of Chicago, matrons of honor. Mr. Scully escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The groomsmen were Edward Fisher of Pontiac, Mich., Carl Denkman of Rock Island, Albert Kinney of Chicago, L.A. Murphy of Moline, H.W. Murphy of New York, Allen Staley of Chicago, F.C. Gallaudet of Detroit and Chase Scully and George Scully of Peoria. Following the church service, a reception was held at Pine Oaks, the large Georgian residence of Mr. and Mrs. Scully, where a wedding supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis will leave in the early evening for the east and will sail October 7 to spend several months abroad. They will land at Plymouth, England, going first to visit the bride's grandmother and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Scully, after which they will travel on the continent before returning to Clinton to make their home. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Scully gave a dinner for the members of the bridal party. Twenty four were seated at a table with cloth of silver cover. Mirrors and mirrored glass reflected stiff balls of white flowers arranged in ultra-modernistic style.
