Frank Schroeder of Lost Nation, Clinton County, was in Davenport Friday afternoon for the purpose ascertaining how he might join the Boers in South Africa. The Davenport Republican says, he stated that there were six others at Lost Nation who will go with him, and probably several more than that number. He left that evening for Orange City to consult Mr. Von Oosterhoat, of that place, who is the leading man of the Hollander settlement there, and the treasurer for the relief fund of Iowa. Schroeder is about 23 years of age, six feet one inch in his stocking feet and strong and well proportioned. He wants to stand on Spion Kop or some such place, and he says that his companions at Lost Nation are equally anxious.
